FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CLIFTON, NJ — October 25, 2026 — Clifton City Council candidate Tafari Anderson is proposing a comprehensive Parks and Recreation Improvement Plan to protect neighborhood parks, modernize recreational facilities, and ensure taxpayer dollars deliver measurable results.
“Clifton families deserve clean, safe, accessible parks and recreational facilities,” Anderson stated. “Our parks are essential community assets, and maintaining them should be a core municipal responsibility.”
Anderson’s proposal focuses on five priorities:
- Facility Assessments: Conduct inspections of playgrounds, athletic fields, walking paths, lighting, restrooms, and recreational buildings.
- Maintenance Accountability: Establish published maintenance schedules and a centralized system for reporting and resolving park deficiencies.
- Capital Improvement Planning: Prioritize repairs using documented safety risks, facility conditions, and community demand.
- Funding Partnerships: Pursue county and state grants, sponsorships, and appropriate partnerships to reduce taxpayer costs.
- Community Access: Improve accessibility and expand recreational opportunities for children, seniors, and residents with disabilities.
Anderson also recommends coordinating recreational programming with community organizations to maximize the use of existing facilities.
“Before City Hall commits millions to new projects, we must maintain the facilities taxpayers already own,” Anderson said.
The proposal calls for annual public reporting on park conditions, completed improvements, project costs, and outstanding maintenance needs.
“Strong neighborhoods need well-maintained public spaces,” Anderson concluded. “Clifton can improve recreation while respecting taxpayers through planning, partnerships, and accountability.”
