Anderson Commends President Trump’s Proposed $5,000 Trump Dividend and Backs an America First Agenda for Clifton

Clifton Council Candidate Says Government Should Put Working Americans and Taxpayers First

CLIFTON, N.J. — Clifton City Council candidate Tafari K. Anderson today commended President Donald J. Trump following the President’s proposal to provide a $5,000 “Trump Dividend” to adult American citizens if Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress following the November midterm elections.

President Trump has described the proposed payment as a dividend arising from the economic strength of the United States and has pointed to tariff revenues as a potential source of funding.

“President Trump continues to demonstrate that he is a man of the people and for the people,” Anderson said. “His focus remains where it belongs: on putting American citizens first, strengthening American families, rebuilding our economy and ensuring that the benefits of our nation’s prosperity reach the hardworking people who make this country successful.”

Anderson said the proposal reflects a broader philosophy that government should work on behalf of its citizens rather than continually demanding more from taxpayers while delivering less in return.

“For too long, hardworking Americans have watched government spending grow while families struggle with the rising cost of housing, food, energy, insurance and everyday necessities,” Anderson said. “President Trump’s America First philosophy recognizes that government should be looking for ways to return value to the people, not simply finding new ways to spend their money.”

Anderson said he strongly supports President Trump’s commitment to making the America First Agenda his administration’s top priority.

“President Trump has made clear that America First is not merely a slogan. It means prioritizing American workers, American families, American businesses, American energy and American taxpayers,” Anderson said. “I am fully behind the President and those principles.”

An America First Agenda for Clifton

Anderson said those same principles should be applied at the local level through an America First agenda for Clifton focused on taxpayers, families, public safety and accountable government.

“My commitment is simple: just as President Trump puts America First, I will put Clifton First,” Anderson said. “Every decision made by our City Council should begin with one question: How does this benefit the people of Clifton who live here, raise their families here, operate businesses here and pay the bills for city government?”

Anderson’s Clifton-focused agenda includes:

• Stabilizing property taxes and demanding greater accountability for municipal spending.
• Implementing zero-based budgeting so expenditures must be justified rather than automatically carried forward year after year.
• Conducting an independent DOGE-style financial and efficiency audit to identify waste, duplication and opportunities for taxpayer savings.
• Supporting law enforcement and ensuring Clifton remains a safe community for families and businesses.
• Opposing irresponsible overdevelopment that strains infrastructure, worsens flooding and increases pressure on taxpayers.
• Investing responsibly in Clifton’s aging roads, stormwater systems and other critical infrastructure.
• Increasing transparency in municipal contracts, procurement and major financial decisions.
• Supporting Clifton’s small businesses and reducing unnecessary barriers to local economic growth.

“Clifton taxpayers deserve elected officials who remember whose money they are spending,” Anderson said. “Government does not create money. Every dollar comes from a resident, a family or a business that worked to earn it.”

Anderson said President Trump’s proposed dividend also highlights the need for elected officials at every level to focus on affordability.

“Families are feeling the pressure every time they go to the grocery store, pay a utility bill, make a mortgage payment or open their property-tax bill,” Anderson said. “Government cannot simply shrug its shoulders and tell people to accept higher costs. Leaders should be looking every day for ways to make life more affordable.”

Anderson continued:

“President Trump understands that the American people should come first. I share that belief completely. His America First agenda has my full support, and as Clifton’s next Councilman, I intend to bring that same taxpayer-first, family-first and community-first philosophy to City Hall.”

Anderson concluded:
