Anderson Marks 25th Anniversary of September 11, Honors Victims, Families and First Responders

Clifton City Council Candidate Calls on Community to Remember, Reflect and Serve

CLIFTON, N.J. — On the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Clifton City Council candidate Tafari K. Anderson issued the following statement honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders and ordinary citizens whose courage became a defining part of America’s response to tragedy.

“Today, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the heroes who showed us what courage truly looks like,” Anderson said. “We will never forget.”

Anderson said the passage of twenty-five years has not diminished the significance of that day or the responsibility Americans share to preserve the memory of those who were taken too soon.

“Twenty-five years later, the memories of September 11 remain in our hearts,” Anderson said. “May we always remember the strength, compassion and unity that emerged from one of our nation’s darkest days.”

In New Jersey and communities throughout the New York metropolitan area, September 11 remains deeply personal. Families lost loved ones. First responders rushed toward danger. Neighbors supported one another. Communities gathered in grief, prayer and determination.

Anderson said the anniversary should also serve as a reminder of the values that brought Americans together in the days that followed.

“Today is a day to pause, reflect and honor those we lost,” Anderson said. “May we continue to carry their memory forward by loving our neighbors, serving our communities and never taking each other for granted.”

Anderson also paid tribute to the firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, members of the military, healthcare workers, volunteers and countless others who responded during and after the attacks.

“The bravery displayed on September 11 was extraordinary, but so was the compassion that followed,” Anderson said. “Americans from every background stood together. We helped strangers. We supported grieving families. We honored our first responders. We remembered that, despite our differences, we are one nation.”

Anderson encouraged Clifton residents to use the anniversary not only as a day of remembrance, but also as a day of service and renewed commitment to community.

“The most meaningful way we can honor those we lost is to remember how precious life is and how important it is to look after one another,” Anderson said. “Serve a neighbor. Thank a first responder. Check on a veteran. Support a family in need. Strengthening our community is one way we ensure that the spirit of September 11 is never forgotten.”

Anderson concluded:

“May God continue to comfort the families who lost loved ones, protect those who serve our communities and our nation, and bless the United States of America. We remember. We honor. We will never forget.”
